Seedling Updates - Jan 19
I'm feeling the January blues. It sounds bad but without the drinking or social media, I just feel lost. I find it hard just to sit with myself. I can't get motivated to do anything at all. I have forced myself to at least water my plants. If I don't do anything else, I must water them.
Most of my seeds have germinated -- the tomatoes and cucurbites have thrived the most. They have their true leaves and are working on more. They have been sowed in bigger pots so I will see which stems look the healthiest and cut the rest.

The plant room is HOT. My greens are suffering slightly with legginess but I'm hoping they will bounce back as they get bigger.
My onions haven't germinated -- these seeds were quite old and if I recall ,onion seeds aren't as viable after a couple years. I should pick some more up soon and do a re-seeding.
My chocolate peppers haven't germinated, they were also older seed (from 2018 I believe) so that could be in issue, I also started them in plugs, which dry out very quickly. I will give them more time.
King of the North and Big Red peppers have mostly germinated, a couple that I started in plugs have their first true leaves and I will pot them up shortly.
I have potted up some swiss chard and kale -- the swiss chard was very leggy. When I potted it up I didn't burry the stem, so I hope it gets stronger as it gets bigger.
My ginger has started to sprout! The dome is off but I still have it on a heat mat.
Rosemary has done nothing -- it notoriously has a long germination time so I will give it more time.
The thyme was the first to germinate, which was a surprise to me as I thought they took awhile. These seeds were brand new though, so that it probably the reason.
On another note, my houseplants are THRIVING! I sold a few on Facebook last week and I have more to sell. I have downsized my collection a bit and it feels less overwhelming.
I also think I got rid of thrips finally!
My next post will feature some of my favourites!
